Join Us for a Week of #LPAEarthStories

Monday, April 22nd is Earth Day and in the week leading up to it, we’re celebrating our second annual #LPAEarthStories campaign by inviting you to

Share Your Stories of Joy in Nature!

The idea behind #LPAEarthStories—taking time to reflect on personal stories of nature—was prompted by the work of nature/culture writer (and LPA-certified coach) Dr. Tami Spry.

This year, Tami will literally prompt us—providing four intriguing questions between April 15-22 to spark personal reflections on our joyful relationships with nature. We’ll ask you to contribute those reflections via our #LPAEarthStories page.

Watch for prompts on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of next week and on Earth Day, Monday, April 22. You’ll find them on our Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram pages as well as the on our website.

Wherever a prompt takes you is completely your own. It can be silly or sacred, simple or complex. Let your feelings about being in nature move you into a conversation about why and how the natural world brings joy, comfort, beauty.

WHY #LPAEarthStories? Here are 3 good reasons.

  1. There is growing research that shows how personal storytelling about nature can inspire us to take positive action on climate change. [look here]

  2. Studies also show that time in nature can help lower blood pressure, heart rate and harmful hormones. [look here]

  3. It’s a way to reclaim ties to nature, particularly important for individuals and communities with limited access and representation in outdoor spaces. [look here]

We’ll be posting more about these subjects in the week ahead as well.
